My name is Mikala, but most call Mak. Originally from southern Illinois, I moved to Nashville in the winter of 2023. For two years I worked at a letterpress shop called Hatch Show Print but now I make prints in my own home using an etching press.
I’m a printmaker mostly inspired by historic Japanese woodblock prints, folk art, and contemporary traditional tattooing.

When I moved to Nashville, I applied to the internship program at Hatch.
I started my internship in September of 2023 & stayed in the shop for another two years where I learned the ins and outs of letterpress printing.
